Exempt POSITION SUMMARY The Social Media Specialist is responsible to the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Marketing.
The position is part-time for 15 hours a week.
Depending on the candidate selected to fill this position, there might be additional duties which could be assigned by the Marketing Coordinator to convert this position from part-time to full-time.
The Digital Media Specialist is responsible for maintaining the social media accounts to communicate the University to prospective students, alumni, and the community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate and manage the creation of digital content for social media Assist the Marketing Coordinator in designing and implementing the company's digital media plans and strategies and achieving digital marketing goals and objectives.
Establish, update, and improve our brand presence through HLGU social media and digital content.
Maintain and manage HLGU social media channels.
Generate and maintain engaging content for use on social media and other appropriate channels.
Develop concepts and content for specific marketing campaigns.
Manage branding and advertising engaged through multiple lead vendor relationships ensuring updated content.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Marketing Coordinator.
DEPARTMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS The position of Social Media Specialist requires a working relationship with all departments on campus.
The Digital Media Specialist will work closely with Academics, Admissions, Institutional Advancement, Alumni, and Athletics to ensure all audiences are being represented in our digital communications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Must be able to effectively plan and meet multiple deadlines and high-pressure timetables.
Must be able to take directions and follow through on tasks.
Must possess good initiative and the ability to work without close supervision.
Knowledge of social media including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok is required for this position.
Candidate must stay up to date on social media trends and changes Demonstrated skills with social media management tools.
A plus if the candidate has managed social media ads in the past.
Must demonstrate excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
Requires the highest level of relational skills in working with university personnel to meet their needs and in working with outside vendors.
Must be creative and have excellent communication skills.
Must be a team player who has the good of the organization at heart.
Must have values consistent with the mission and purpose of Hannibal-LaGrange University.
Must agree to, sign off on, and abide by the standards of employment at Hannibal-LaGrange University on the yearly contract located in the staff handbook.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING Preferred to have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
A degree with emphasis in graphic arts, marketing, public relations, web design or digital media is preferred.
Portfolio of designs and published projects is a plus.
Preference will be given to Hannibal-LaGrange University graduates.
