Care for Medical Telemetry Patients include:
Routine nursing care accommodated by an RN/Patient ratio of 5:1
Patients who need a Nursing assessment every 8 hours
Patients who need Vital signs every 8 hours routinely
Cardiac monitoring
Hemodynamically stable dysrhythmia
Treatment Provided:
Routine finger stick blood sugar
Cardiac or vasoactive drips/IV Meds that are stable, or require titration for no more than 90 minutes to stabilize patient include
o Diltiazem drip/IVP
o Metoprolol
Special Care Procedures on this Unit Include:
Two or more blood transfusions in a 12 hour period
Three or more fluid boluses for maintaining adequate blood pressure in a 12 hours period.
Procedures completed by the physician for Medical Telemetry patients include but are not limited to:
Thoracentesis
Paracentesis
Central Line insertion
Bone marrow aspiration
Chest tube insertion
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
